Malibu Seafood may be one of the most iconic landmarks in all of Malibu. The restaurant, located just across from Dan Blocker beach on Pacific Coast Highway, displays its iconic lobster sign which is identifiable from a mile away! This BYOB (bring your own booze) spot is an incredibly popular seafood joint, especially during those summer weekends when the line is regularly extended out onto the highway.
Our favorite item on the menu at Malibu Seafood is the timeless classic, fish and chips. It can be served with 1, 2 or 3 pieces of fried fish, just depending on how hungry you are. The dish is reasonably priced ranging from $7.95 to $15.95. Malibu Seafood also has one of the best dining settings in Malibu with ocean views from every table, only about 50 yards away from the Pacific.

The view from Kristy’s Wood Oven and Wine Bar alone warrants a spot on this list for best lunches in Malibu. Perched atop the bluff adjacent from Westward Beach, the outdoor patio boasts a view of the California coast with gorgeous views of the Pacific. It is hard to not enjoy a meal with a view like that during your lunch hour, but when you have that combined with quality food it is impossible!
Our favorite thing on the lunch menu at Kristy’s is the prime beef burger. We go as far to say that it is the best burger in all of Malibu. The prime beef burger contains applewood smoked bacon, maple onion jam, and gruyere cheese, amongst all your normal hamburger accessories. Order it with a side of fries or sweet potato fries and you have yourself a great lunch.
Vintage Grocers, one of the few independently operated grocery stores in Malibu first opened its doors in early 2014 and has since been received well by the Malibu community. Grocery shopping aside, it has become a great spot for locals and visitors alike to stop in and grab a tasty lunch. Conveniently located in the Trancas Shopping Center, Vintage provides a quick and very affordable way for west Malibu to grab a bite.
The grocery store has a plethora of options for lunch which includes freshly made sandwiches, sushi, pizza, deli, salads, a hot food bar and more. We originally tried to to pick one that we thought was our favorite, but we just could not because it is all so tasty. Regardless of what you choose at Vintage, you cannot go wrong. The store has tables outside to take your food or you can also go right across to Zuma beach and enjoy a nice beach lunch (just make sure to keep the beaches clean!).
For years now John’s Garden has been known in Malibu as one of the best, if not THE best sandwich spot that the city has to offer. It was without question that something from the menu at John’s Garden would make it onto this list. The only question, a difficult one albeit, was which item we would choose to put on here.
After some taste testing and careful thought, we decided to go with one of their most popular items, the black bean burger. This burger is all vegetarian featuring a black bean patty with Avocado, sprouts or lettuce, tomato, and chipotle sauce.
Located right across from Johns Garden in the Malibu Country Mart , Tra Di Noi offers another great spot to have lunch. Those who are not entirely familiar with Malibu may know Tra Di Noi mainly as a sit down restaurant. However, if you do not have the time to sit down during lunch or simply want to get something on the go, they have a take out lunch window where you can order something quickly.
The window offers its own menu, as well as access to the restaurant menu, however we recommend something off of their window menu for convenience purposes. They offer sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, and salads. The item that we recommend is the pollo sandwich. It comes a Caesar salad on the side and is sure to satisfy your lunchtime needs!
